FERNANDO Marin

PHOTOGRAPHER

My work as a photographer reflects a deep fascination with the layers of human life shaped by memory, culture, and storytelling. Influenced by the rich narrative heritage of my homeland Colombia, I use imagery to capture emotions and reveal the shared experiences that weave us together. At the same time, my life in Canada has expanded my understanding of connection, teaching me to see humanity’s shared threads through the lens of empathy and diversity.
Rooted in the tradition of documentary photography, my work seeks to transcend simple representation. It delves into profound questions of identity, resilience, and connection, often drawing on the interplay between the real and the imaginary—a perspective shaped by the poetic sensibilities of magical realism. Living in Canada, a multicultural and inclusive society, has deepened my exploration of human connection, inspiring me to highlight the universality of emotions and the ways in which individual stories intersect to create a collective narrative.
With a blend of technical precision and empathetic engagement, I explore the delicate relationship between observer and subject. Each image I create becomes a meaningful encounter, imbued with both personal resonance and universal significance. My goal is to challenge conventional narratives and invite viewers to see the beauty in the small, often overlooked moments—the quiet magic of everyday life that defines our shared humanity.
